TL;DR
| Question | Answer |
|---|---|
| What does it do? | Your agent searches Google Drive for files modified this week, creates a new Google Sheet and writes one row per file: name, type, last editor, date and link. |
| Who is it for? | Team leads and freelancers who report on what changed, and anyone who lost track of last week's files. |
| What do I connect? | Google Sheets, once, with its own sign-in. ClawLink never sees your password. |
| What does it cost? | About 3 tool calls on your plan. Starter includes 1,000 a month. |
| Does it work? | googledrive_find_file succeeded on 99.8% of 6,005 calls on ClawLink in the last 30 days. |
| Which agents? | OpenClaw, Hermes, Claude, Codex, ChatGPT and any MCP client connected to ClawLink. |
How do you try it?
- Set up ClawLink once. Add it to your agent from the install page, then connect Google Sheets.
- Send this prompt to your agent. Click the card to copy it.
It works the same in OpenClaw, Hermes, Claude and Codex.
How does the agent do it?
The agent makes 3 calls through ClawLink. You do not pick the tools: the agent finds them by searching ClawLink, reads their input schema and runs them.
| Step | Tool | What it does | Calls in 30 days |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | googledrive_find_file | Searches Drive with a query such as modifiedTime > the start of the week. | 6,005 (99.8% ok) |
| 2 | googlesheets_create_google_sheet1 | Creates a new, empty spreadsheet. | 47 (100.0% ok) |
| 3 | googlesheets_spreadsheets_values_append | Appends the rows of file data to the sheet. | 946 (100.0% ok) |
How often does this work on ClawLink?
We do not publish a sample run for this job: its output is somebody's own Google Sheets. Instead, here is how the same tools performed for every ClawLink user from 2026-09-03 to 2026-10-03. A call counts as failed only when it reached Google Sheets and came back with an error.
| Tool | Calls | Users | Succeeded | Average time |
|---|---|---|---|---|
googledrive_find_file | 6,005 | 60 | 99.8% | 2.0 s |
googlesheets_create_google_sheet1 | 47 | 15 | 100.0% | 3.3 s |
googlesheets_spreadsheets_values_append | 946 | 15 | 100.0% | 1.8 s |
How do you write the prompt?
- Connect both apps. The job reads Google Drive and writes Google Sheets, so both must be connected.
- Name the columns. "Columns: name, owner, modified, link" gives you the same sheet every week.
- Reuse the sheet. After the first run, say "append to the sheet called Weekly files" to keep one history.
What can go wrong?
- Drive connects without Drive access. Google's consent screen leaves the Drive permission unchecked by default. In August, 21% of new Drive connections on ClawLink had no Drive access and every search failed with a scope error. Tick the Drive box when you connect.
- Literal placeholders. An agent sometimes passes "INSERT_ROWS" or "Sheet1!A1" as text where Sheets expects a real value. If the append fails, ask the agent to read the tool schema again.
- Shared drives. Files in shared drives only show up when the search includes them. Say "include shared drives" if your team uses them.
How does this compare with other ways to do it?
| Option | How it works | Cost | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| ClawLink + your agent | One prompt, a new Sheet with the list | About 3 tool calls on your plan | A weekly report without code |
| Google Drive activity panel | Click through the activity view | Free | Checking one folder |
| Apps Script | Write and schedule a script | Free, your time | A fixed report you never change |
