TL;DR
| Question | Answer |
|---|---|
| What does it do? | Your agent reads the recent posts of two public Instagram accounts through ClawLink and compares them: likes, comments, formats and the post that did best on each side. |
| Who is it for? | Brand and social media managers who benchmark against competitors, and agencies that report on them. |
| What do I connect? | Nothing. It reads public data with ClawLink's own provider. |
| What does it cost? | About $0.00282 of ClawLink credit per run. New accounts get $0.50 free. |
| Does it work? | Yes. We ran it on 2026-10-03; the results are below. |
| Which agents? | OpenClaw, Hermes, Claude, Codex, ChatGPT and any MCP client connected to ClawLink. |
How do you try it?
- Set up ClawLink once. Add it to your agent from the install page. This job needs no connected app.
- Send this prompt to your agent. Click the card to copy it.
It works the same in OpenClaw, Hermes, Claude and Codex.
How does the agent do it?
The agent makes one call through ClawLink. You do not pick the tools: the agent finds them by searching ClawLink, reads their input schema and runs them.
| Step | Tool | What it does | Price |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | instagramdata_user_posts | Returns a public account's recent posts with likes, comments, type and date. Called once per account. | $0.00282 |
What happened when we ran it?
We sent this job through ClawLink on 2026-10-03. These are the real calls and what came back, not an example.
| Call | Input and result | Time | Cost |
|---|---|---|---|
instagramdata_user_posts | @nike, 12 posts | 2.4 s | $0.00282 |
instagramdata_user_posts | @adidas, 12 posts | 3.6 s | $0.00282 |
What the data showed:
- Nike's 12 posts had 2,104,443 likes in total, about 175,370 per post; adidas's 12 had 237,171, about 19,764 per post.
- Nike's best post of its own was an Alcaraz Reel on Aug 31: 369,136 likes and 9,771,119 plays.
- adidas's best post of its own was the "Home of Innovation" Reel on Sep 25: 31,853 likes and 907,020 plays.
- The single biggest item in Nike's feed was a collab carousel from @nsw: 1,103,076 likes.
- Comments followed likes: 17,647 for Nike against 2,476 for adidas.
How do you write the prompt?
- Use handles. "@nike and @adidas" is all the agent needs.
- Fix the window. "Last 10 posts" or "posts this month" makes the two sides comparable.
- Ask for a table. A two-column table with averages is easier to read than two lists.
What can go wrong?
- Private accounts return nothing. Only public profiles can be read. The agent should say so instead of comparing an empty list.
- Hidden like counts. Some accounts hide likes. Compare comments when likes are missing.
- Collab posts are mixed in. In our run, 7 of adidas's 12 posts came from @adidasrunning, @adidasbasketball and a @mercedesbenz collab, and Nike's best item was an @nsw carousel. Ask the agent to separate the account's own posts from collabs.
- Not in date order. The adidas list did not come back sorted: its newest post was fourth. Ask the agent to sort by date before it compares.
How does this compare with other ways to do it?
| Option | How it works | Cost | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| ClawLink + your agent | One prompt, comparison table in the chat | $0.00564 per run | Quick competitor checks |
| Social listening suite (Sprout Social, Brandwatch) | Dashboards, scheduled reports | Monthly seat pricing | Large teams that report weekly |
| Scroll both profiles | By hand | Free | A single glance |
