Troubleshooting
Hermes paired but still can't use Gong
Pairing is a two-step handshake: run hermes clawlink begin, approve the link in your browser, then run hermes clawlink finish. If you ran finish before approving, or the approval link expired, run hermes clawlink begin again to get a fresh link. Confirm the plugin was installed with --enable, then verify with hermes clawlink test.
Connection succeeds but no tools appear
Reconnect Gong from the dashboard, then start a fresh chat if the runtime still has the old tool catalog loaded.
"Tool schema not loaded yet" error when calling Gong tools
Gong tool schemas load on demand the first time a tool runs and are cached after that, so this error usually clears on its own: wait a few seconds and retry the same request. If every Gong call keeps failing with it in a fresh chat, reconnect from the dashboard, and contact support if it still persists — that pattern points to a configuration problem on our side, not something you can fix by reconnecting again.
Gong returns 403 or "permission denied" on one action while others work
Two usual causes. The connected account may not have access to the specific workspace, inbox, store, or project in the request — check that first. If access looks right, the agent may have sent a placeholder value (like "YOUR_ID" or an example id from documentation) instead of a real one: ask it to run a list or search tool first, then retry the action with a real id from those results. Most failures at this stage are one of these two, not ClawLink bugs.
Gong returns 403 "insufficient permissions" although the account shows as connected
Gong 403s are about what the credential can reach, and there are two layers. The layer search results teach applies to API tokens: a token generated with limited data scopes fails endpoints outside those scopes, so the fix is regenerating the token with the right scopes. The layer that applies to a hosted OAuth connection is Gong's own permission model: the connected user's role and workspace decide what the agent can see, so a call or folder outside that user's visibility returns a permission error rather than a not-found. On top of both sits the page's own cause, a placeholder ID such as YOUR_CALL_ID reaching the API literally. Ask the agent which user it is acting as and which object it was trying to reach before anything else.
Ask the agent to diagnose it:

Gong's documented API limits are 3 requests per second and 10,000 requests per day, with a 429 and a Retry-After header when exceeded, and the allowance is company-level rather than per connection. A 57-tool agent walking folders and transcripts one call at a time is exactly the shape that can plausibly reach the daily pool. The response is to change the shape of the work: gong_retrieve_call_data_by_date_range_v2_calls pulls many calls in one request instead of one call at a time, name the folder or date range up front, and have the agent read and report the Retry-After value instead of retrying blind. These limits are Gong-side and documented on their help center; no reconnect changes them.
Ask the agent to diagnose it:

Two failures share this symptom. If no Gong tools appear at all, the connection or pairing is incomplete: confirm the plugin was installed with --enable, that hermes clawlink begin and hermes clawlink finish both ran, and that Gong shows as connected in the dashboard. If most tools work and one name fails, the name is wrong rather than missing, and the error lists the closest real ones. There is also a first-call timing case: schemas load on demand, so the opening Gong call in a fresh session can arrive before the catalog and needs one retry.
